(Work-Life) Balance or Harmony (! / ?)

(Work-Life) Balance or Harmony (! / ?)

(Work-Life) Balance or Harmony (! / ?)

Welcome to the world of Work-Life Harmony, beyond Work-Life Balance.

I have been advocating the concept of Work-Life Harmony versus the theoretical and rhetorical Work-Life Balance.

Very happy to hear Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore Heng Swee Kiat calling for a focus of Work-Life Harmony today.

Why HARMONY?
>

Balance connotes a 50-50 equation and is the process driving the person as we are somehow coached to derive an templated balance which may not suit our lifestyle nor those around us.

Every person and family is an ecosystem of life and living. Every combination and permutation of every individual and collection of individuals in a family, a community is different and dynamic. Therefore the concept of balance can be hypothetical and unrealistic.

The WHY of our life is to achieve happiness, for ourselves and for the people whom we love.

Therefore how do we creatively and humanly fit our work-life with our family-life, leisure-life into our entire being and existence. Above it all, our relationship with each other is both unique and dynamic.

Taking control of the ‘process’ to achieve this happiness, we must strive for Work-Life HARMONY.

If our family and we are happy with a 73% work and 27% family time, that is good enough. This Harmony is again unique between individuals and amongst communities and families.

There is no one size fit all solution is balancing this.

Harmony is something we should strive for as it also brings communities, individuals together; creatively and negotiable and where compromises can be made in the most humanly way possible involving communication and discussion, which we are neglecting so much in this digital age.

With that, we can now humanise our interaction beyond mechanising is with preset methodologies and process.

Enjoy the return of the power to decide!

Welcome back to the human world of Harmony.
